Scottish Quality Salmon meets with Highland CouncilScottish Quality Salmon has met with Highland Council to discuss the ways in which both organisations could work together in order to develop and promote sustainable salmon farming. During a short presentation, Brian Simpson, Chief Executive of Scottish Quality salmon, suggested that both organisations share a vision of maintaining jobs and developing sustainable salmon farming, and in order to achieve this high standards of production need to be recognised and encouraged. The meeting was attended by representatives from Highland Council, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Scottish Environment Protection Agency and Scottish Quality Salmon. The launch of Strategic Framework for Scottish Aquaculture in March 2003 called on the industry to work together with local councils to develop sustainable salmon farming. END |
