The Scottish Salmon Producers Organisation (SSPO) is committed to offering transparent and open access to information about one of Scotland's most successful food sectors. It publishes regular data on the opportunities and challenges faced by the county's salmon farmers but also provides additional insight regarding the sector's impacts including economic benefit and environmental sustainability.
Over the last five years there has been a strong growth in Scotland's seal population with Marine Scotland estimating there is at least 132,000 living in the country's coastal waters.
The health and welfare of farmed salmon is of paramount importance to Scottish salmon producers and the sector works hard to keep lice levels as low as possible.
The link below details the sector's sea lice averages for January 2020.
