The Scottish salmon farming sector takes a long-term view of ensuring that fish health and survival improve and that Scotland can lead in fish health status.

Our salmon are reared with their health and welfare as our top priority. Like all livestock, salmon can on occasion face health challenges and our farmers work diligently to try to prevent illness and treat it appropriately when it does occur.

However despite all fish being under the care of specialised fish veterinarians and highly-trained farm staff, some livestock losses do occur.
